The drummer for StarCulture is also a jet setting music producer/ singer- songwriter and DJ that collaborates with various projects in the San Francisco, Los Angeles and Tokyo scenes.
After crossing the US on a motorcycle in search of vision and a place to cultivate musical dreams, Sunevil, after the 1994 Burning Man pointed a direction West, Landed in San Francisco where he began to infuse world beats and heavy breaks with a rock edge, while performing live drums with local middle eastern influenced space funk-rock band, known as “Beyond Race” from 1995-97. From 1999-2003 he lived and toured in Japan as DJ, live drummer, electronic music producer and vocalist on releases foreign and domestic with live / electronic group “Protection”, plus collaborated with acclaimed Dj Tsuyoshi and Funky Gong for labels, Joujouka and Nurding. There he helped produce tracks and record drums for Chilldren ov Paradise, who later became, “Protection” that subsequently released an album with So Sweet Records in Los Angeles, which spawned remixes by other artists that have had radio play across America, Europe and Asia.
Returning to the states in 2003, he became known as a DJ of many flavors by spinning a blend of electro-clash, rock, house, disco, 80’s, and new wave. He has performed everywhere from underground shows to large festivals such as Lolla Palooza, Exotic Erotic Ball, LA Pride festival, Love Parade San Francisco and Mexico City Fashion Week.
He has shared billing with Perry Farrell, Janes’ Addiction, Tiga, Peaches, Kool Keith, Tommy Lee, Adam Freeland, Simian Mobile Disco and some of the biggest names in dance music. Sunevil is currently DJing and working on tracks with StarCulture as well as various recording projects.
